About Me

Cristina Placeres: Hi! My name is Cristina Maria Placeres. I am currently an art major at Miami-Dade College, and am pursuing a degree in Fine Arts. I have always loved the arts, and now have geared my passions towards a degree in this field. When I look for inspiration I simply look within myself. I paint with true emotion; I consider art to be a whole language all on its own. Sometimes I don’t know how to verbally describe my thoughts or ideas, but I can always find a way to express it through my work. Art is not just something I do for fun or do because of my love for it; to me it is a way of life. Art changes the way I think, the way I speak, and the way I see. Art is everywhere I look. Whether it is considered beautiful, grotesque, or even ordinary, I can always see the artistic side to it. What I aim to do is show the world the beautiful side to the not so beautiful and bring out the extraordinary in the ordinary.
